Here are the results of the experiment I did with azoogle and adbrite involving ringtones.
I purchased a text link on a very popular site on adbrite:
1 day text link cost: around $650
average total clicks: 8,300
I decide to use a lander as opposed to sending the user straight to the affiliate link.
product: ringtone offer
payout: $10
I figure if I get only a 1% conversion from 8,300 average clicks that’s:
83 X $10 (ringtone payout)= $830 - $650 (advertising cost) = $180 profit
So I’m all pumped up and can’t wait for the site on adbrite to approve my ad…
…. a few hours later I notice the site approved it. start checking my stats and right away I am getting lots of traffic.
I check almost every few hours to see how the offer is going and here are my final numbers:
final numbers:
adbrite:
total clicks: around 6,000
total impressions: 1.3 million
ctr: .4 %
total earned from azoogle: $270 - $650 advertising cost = -380
note to self: must not be doing something right, back to the drawing boar. don’t give up!
note to viewers: as you can see at the end I was at a negative $380. Thats a good thing and a bad thing.
good: I have learned a great deal, have a better idea of what type of numbers/conversions to expect
bad: $-380
final thoughts:
Affiliate marketing is an amazing industry to be in, lot’s of revenue to be made while doing something that’s fun.
Deep down inside of me I know that’s i’m going to make a ton of cash from affiliate marketing.
It’s just a matter of not giving up and listening to that voice from within that will get me there.
I can look at this azoogleads experiment one of two ways:
1. I have failed, I’m at a loss of -$380, I should find something else to do with my time
2. I know more now then I did before I tried this, it’s just a matter of not giving up and trying other ways of doing it (ex. different landers, different link text, etc..) until I find what works and what doesn’t!
I choose to look at it the second way. As corny and cheesy as this may sound never give up!
